How to Test When the Requirements are Unknown

Indira Pai, Instructure

About the Topic

Often QA engineers encounter testing adventures with little or unknown requirements. Testing without exact specifications and delivering test results when we don't know what is expected can be tough. Are the QA engineers who face this challenge doomed? Maybe not! Maybe this is a boon in disguise! Indira has been working with such testing adventures for many years. She has found situations like these to be opportunities for getting creative and experimenting with different testing strategies to fit the needs of various projects and process models. Every testing adventure can become more exciting based on the different strategies which we choose to apply. This interactive presentation will walk you through various challenges and different testing techniques and strategies that can be used to test with little or no requirements. Additionally, learnings from such challenges can become a valuable aid in refining QA process models.

Key Learning Objectives
  • Understanding different causes of unclear requirements and their testing challenges
  • Learning about different strategies which are helpful to deal with these challenges
